A speech for History at UNESCO
Jane Goodall and Savage Lands have a lot in common… Savage Lands was invited at UNESCO. “A speech for history” by Dr. Jane Goodall was the opportunity to meet and start a collaboration. Indeed, the Jane Goodall Institute France and Savage Lands have signed a collaboration agreement for at least 3 years. Obviously, the general philosophy of the two organizations are very close, the idea of joining forces is then obvious. Also, both organizations believe in the power of art and especially music. Jane Goodall is a historical figure and there’s no doubt that this collaboration will be noticeable. Metalheads joining the iconic blond doctor… This is not something that happens everyday!
Alliance for biodiversity
Consequently, the first step is to collaborate on two projects: One located in Burundi and the other in France. In both cases, the aim is to finance the creation and sustainability of areas conducive to the development of biodiversity. Savage Lands will therefore accompany the Jane Goodall institute France on the Jane Goodall biodiversity reserve in French Brittany. As for Burundi, this involves the protection of chimpanzees, but also the restoration of the forests of the Kibira National Park and the creation of an ecological corridor.
In fact, the Burundi projects implies a social aspect too. In fact the involvement of villagers and the improvement of their living conditions is key, raising awareness among the youngest is also a better chance for longer run successes. Consequently, the Jane Goodall institute will operate through their Roots & Shoots program and Savage Lands will provide funding and will involve artists to raise awareness and stimulate initiatives.
We share a vision that is focused on biodiversity and the need for a link between man and wildlife. We hope this philosophical vision will inspire many and will bring results that will convince the decision makers to act.
